The definition of Legality is the state or quality of being in conformity with the law, legality adherence or observance of the law.

In accordance with this definition, we have designed our program to provide guidance.

Our organization has supported and lobbied legislatures for rational policies and laws that keep communities safe. We are actively advocating to shrink the prison population and reduce the social and economic impacts that mass incarceration has on our communities.

RIGHTEOUS SONS will continue to advocate for those that may not have a voice and for those that may feel like they don’t. We are here to support you.

Criminal Justice Reform

Most can agree that the Criminal Justice System needs to be overhauled and while there have been some improvements, work still needs to be done.

RIGHTEOUS SONS Criminal Justice Reform Department believes that we need to address structural issues in the Criminal Justice System such as racial profiling, police brutality, over criminalization, mass incarceration and recidivism.

We will continue to advocate for rational policies and laws that keep communities safe while vastly shrinking the prison population and reducing the social and economic impact of mass incarceration on communities.

RIGHTEOUS SONS is currently in partnership with other local organizations in getting the Good Time Bill passed here in Michigan. Good Time credits would incentivize incarcerated individuals to participate in rehabilitative practices. Instead of the inmates spending more time in prison, Good Time would allow for them to pursue an education, job skills, and discover the power of community redemption and reunite with their families.

RIGHTEOUS SONS non- profit is here to assist with issues like expungement, child support, child visitation, and referrals for attorneys, if needed.

We have assisted 87 people successfully complete parole. And 3 people were sentenced to be mentored by us for a year, as an alternative to serving a prison sentence.
